Confessions from The Writing Bunker #6

Well, I finally hit the wall, y’all. I forgot how birthing a book, or any majorly large creative project, is the same as birthing a majorly large baby. It hurts! It’s terrifying! It’s totally worth it!

In this week’s video, I share a tip that helped me whilst journeying through The Valley of Darkness that will hopefully help you too should you hit the wall and feel utterly frustrated. There’s a purpose behind the struggle, a choice you can make and a light at the end of the tunnel. Here’s how to get there:

Your reenactment of the past few days = me the past two weeks. The struggle is REAL.

I ended up in my therapists’ office yesterday where she told me exactly what you did… “take a break, go to the spa, take you time.” Why does that seem easier said than done?

It’s comforting and somehow empowering to know that someone like you (e.g., a powerhouse-kickass-idol of mine) could possibly be going through similar feelings of stuckness and forced creativity as I am. Really, it’s amazing to feel like I”m not alone. Thank you for being relatable and awesome.

I had the guitar experience with learning a new calligraphy script. First I noticed this weird ability I thought I didn’t have when I left my pens alone a few days. I began to see a pattern with each new script. Weeks can go by between studying and implementing. My brain understands the concept, but often it needs a rest before it can tell my hand and arm what to do. Thanks for explaining this weirdness 🙂

Loved the message that it’s okay to feel stagnant and this too shall pass. Also loved your outdoors view!

I laughed and felt relieved watching your video – could so relate!! Feeling VERY stuck in space and time – like a hamster on a wheel trying to find traction while other hamsters throw little pieces of cheese at my head. Taking some time today – thanks for being a legend 🙂
